For Child Care Providers

The New York State Department of Health's Obesity Prevention Program encourages expectant and new parents to breastfeed their infants. The Department's Child and Adult Care Food Program encourages child care centers and family day care homes to actively support breast/chestfeeding families and help parents to continue to breast/chestfeed when they return to work or school. To be recognized as Breastfeeding Friendly, child care center/day care home staff need to complete an assessment that shows support of breast/chestfeeding families. Designated child care centers and day care homes will receive a Breastfeeding Friendly designation that acknowledges their support of breast/chestfeeding families.
