NY State of Health Urges Uninsured New Yorkers to get Covered Before Midnight Deadline Tomorrow

ALBANY, N.Y. (January 30, 2019) - NY State of Health, the state's official health plan Marketplace, is reminding New Yorkers that the final 2019 deadline to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan is midnight on January 31. So far, more than 4.7 million New Yorkers have enrolled through the Marketplace. The number of New Yorkers enrolling continues to climb, significantly outpacing enrollment totals from the end of the 2018 enrollment period.
Enrollment Highlights as of January 30, 2019:
- 265,209 consumers have enrolled in a Qualified Health Plan (QHP), an 8 percent increase from 2018.
- Enrollment in the Essential Plan for lower-income New Yorkers is 784,202.
"The clock is ticking for consumers who want to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan for 2019." said NY State of Health Executive Director, Donna Frescatore. "Consumer demand for affordable coverage is high. We encourage New Yorkers who want a health plan to shop the Marketplace and enroll today in the affordable coverage they deserve."
Consumers can enroll in a health plan online at nystateofhealth.ny.gov, with the help of an in-person assistor or by calling the Customer Service Center at 1-855-355-5777. The Customer Service Center will be open Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Consumers can enroll online until midnight on Thursday, January 31.
Once Open Enrollment ends, consumers may sign up only if they experience a life-change event such as losing their health coverage, getting married, having a child or moving. Enrollment in the Essential Plan, Medicaid and Child Health Plus is available year-round.
