NY State of Health Encourages Graduates, Students to Get Covered!

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 20, 2018) - NY State of Health, the state’s official health plan Marketplace, is hosting more than 38 enrollment and informational events at nearly 27 colleges across New York State. Certified enrollment assistors will be present throughout the week of April 23 to speak with students and those graduating about how to get affordable, quality health coverage and enroll in a health plan through the Marketplace.

“Similar to a good education, reliable health coverage is key to a successful and secure future,” said NY State of Health Executive Director Donna Frescatore. “The NY State of Health ‘College Campaign’ has been successful in prior years, and we look forward to returning to college campuses this spring to talk with students and soon-to-be graduates about the access to health care the Marketplace offers.”

Details on the colleges participating in the April events with NY State of Health can be found here.

All health plans offered through NY State of Health cover preventive care, such as routine doctor visits and screenings, at no additional cost. Enrollment in Medicaid, Child Health Plus and the Essential Plan is open all year. And, while 2018 Open Enrollment for Qualified Health Plans has ended, graduates and students may be eligible to enroll through a special enrollment period if they have a qualifying life event.
