NY State of Health Encourages New Yorkers to Attend Spring Community Health Fairs and Learn About Affordable Health Coverage

Assistors Educate Consumers About Enrollment Opportunities

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 11, 2018) - NY State of Health, the state's official health plan Marketplace, invites New Yorkers to "spring into health" by attending upcoming free, community health fairs to learn more about how to enroll in a quality, affordable health plan. Certified enrollment assistors will be present at more than 40 free health fairs across the state this spring, to promote year-round enrollment opportunities, answer consumer questions, and make appointments to enroll.

"Public health fairs are excellent opportunities for families and community members to become informed about local wellness resources and the health insurance options available to them," said Executive Director Donna Frescatore. "Enrollment in most Marketplace programs is open year-round and enrollment in Qualified Health Plans is available now for those with a qualifying life event."

Enrollment in Medicaid, Child Health Plus and the Essential Plan is open all year. While the 2018 Open Enrollment Period for Qualified Health Plans has ended, some consumers who have recently experienced a major life change may be eligible to enroll through a special enrollment period.
