Media Advisory: New York State Drinking Water Quality Council to Hold Next Meeting in New York City

What:

The statewide Drinking Water Quality Council will meet on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at Baruch College, in New York City to advance discussion on recommendations to the State Health Department to set enforceable maximum contaminant limits (MCLs) in drinking water for three priority contaminants – perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), and 1,4-dioxane.

At previous meetings held in October and November, the Council was provided with information on the toxicology, occurrence, and treatment technologies for 1,4-dioxane and PFOA/PFOS in New York state's public water systems. These contaminants are currently unregulated by the federal government.

DWQC meetings are open to the public. A public comment session will be held at the end of the meeting. Verbal comment is limited to 2 minutes.
