Event: Press availability and a lecture by Dr. Joachim Frank, the 2017 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and former Wadsworth Center scientist.

What: The Department of Health is proud to welcome Wadsworth Center alumni and 2017 Nobel Laureate, Dr. Joachim Frank. The global recognition of Dr. Frank's work cements the Wadsworth Center's place in the scientific community, not only as New York State's premier public health lab but as a hub for groundbreaking research and innovation. Dr. Frank received the Nobel Prize for his pioneering work at Wadsworth that led to the development of three-dimensional cryo-electron microscopy. The technique generates 3D images of macromolecules in as close to their native state as possible and brings hope for new life-saving treatments.
