Open Enrollment Deadline of January 31st Fast Approaching

In-Person Assistors to Offer Health Plan Information On-Site at Parks Across New York State

ALBANY, N.Y. (January 16, 2018) - NY State of Health, the state's official health plan Marketplace, today announced NY State of Health Awareness Day will be celebrated on January 20th in select state parks across the state. This partnership with the New York State Office of Parks Recreation and Historic Preservation enables visitors to talk with in-person assistors who will be on-site at state parks to provide information about affordable coverage, answer questions and make enrollment appointments.State parks offer wintertime recreational activities like hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice skating. The deadline for 2018 coverage is January 31, 2018.

"Winter is a great time to visit a state park and this year, NY State of Health will be on-site at several parks to talk with consumers about how to get good, low-cost health plans," said NY State of Health Executive Director Donna Frescatore. "There's still time to get covered for 2018. New Yorkers can enroll in a Qualified Health Plan through the end of January."

"State Parks are wonderful places to get outside, be active and support a healthy lifestyle in the winter months. From snowshoeing to cross-country skiing and ice skating we offer a variety of activities to enjoy the winter weather," said State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey. "On January 20th, I encourage park visitors to take some time while they warm up from outdoor activities to learn more about NY State of Health and what it can offer them and their families. State Parks is proud to be a part of efforts to strengthen the health of New Yorkers in all the communities we serve."

All health plans offered through NY State of Health cover preventive care, such as routine doctor visits and screenings, at no additional cost. Open Enrollment in a Qualified Health Plan continues through January 31, 2018. Enrollment in the Essential Plan, Medicaid and Child Health Plus is open all year.
