Customer Service Hours Extended

ALBANY, N.Y. (January 26, 2017) – NY State of Health, the state's official health plan Marketplace, is reminding New Yorkers that the final deadline to enroll in a Qualified Health Plan for 2017 coverage is Tuesday, January 31. To continue to meet high demand, the NY State of Health Customer Service Center will have extended hours on Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Consumers who want to secure 2017 coverage should act now.

"We've seen unprecedented volume this open enrollment season," said NY State of Health Executive Director Donna Frescatore. "We have answered over 1.7 million calls during open enrollment so far, and just last week our customer service center averaged 40,000 calls daily. We expect the weekend before the final enrollment deadline to be extremely busy as well. Customer Service Center hours have been extended, so we can serve everyone who wants a health plan for 2017. But consumers need to do their part and act now to get enrolled."

So far, more than 3.5 million New Yorkers have enrolled through the Marketplace. The number of New Yorkers enrolling continues to climb, significantly outpacing enrollment totals from the end of the 2016 enrollment period.

Many consumers buying plans through the Marketplace will qualify for increased financial assistance in 2017 to help make coverage more affordable. Consumers who don't enroll in a Qualified Health Plan by January 31 won't be able to enroll for the rest of 2017, unless they have a qualifying life event.

Consumers eligible for Medicaid, Child Health Plus and the Essential Plan also are encouraged to enroll now. Consumers who have questions or need help enrolling can log onto www.nystateofhealth.ny.gov, call 1-855-355-5777 or make an appointment with an in-person assistor.
