Media Advisory: World AIDS Day Healthy Living Expo to be held December 4-5, 2012 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (November 28, 2012) – The New York State Department of Health invites the media and public to participate in the observance of World AIDS Day on December 4 and 5 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.
This year's observance will expand beyond HIV/AIDS to address other public health and social issues. The goal of the expo is to decrease the risk associated with youth-specific health/social issues, including the transmission of HIV/STDs, using various educational methods. Various activities at the expo will inform, educate and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and other health and social issues that affect youth, such as bullying, tobacco use and diabetes; engage participants in an open dialogue to reduce fear and stigma; and present real- life, personal testimonies fromyoung people living with HIV/AIDS.
