Media Advisory: State Health Commissioner, Other Officials to Highlight 'Medical Home' at Bronx Health Center Wednesday

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 5, 2011) – As part of his National Public Health Week tour, on Wednesday New York State Health Commissioner Nirav R. Shah, M.D., M.P.H., will be joined by federal and local leaders as they visit a health center in the Bronx to highlight New York's initiative to expand access to the 'Medical Home' model of health care.

The initiative to enroll 1 million Medicaid patients into Medical Homes was part of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's Medicaid Redesign package of reforms included in the state budget adopted by the legislature last week.
