Single Source Procurement: Variant NBS Sickle Cell Reagent Test Kit

Pursuant to New York State Finance Law §163.10(b), the New York State Department of (DOH) is presenting the following summary of relevant circumstances and substantial reasons why a competitive procurement was not feasible. DOH is initiating a 5-year purchase authorization contract for Sickle Cell test kits used in the Newborn Screening Program. The requested reagents test kits are needed to perform mandated testing on newborn infant specimens for Sickle Cell disease. Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. is currently the only FDA approved entity that can provide these specific kits for the specialized variant hemoglobin testing required.
