Single Source Procurement: Centers of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease

Pursuant to New York State Finance Law § 163.10(b), The New York State Department of Health is presenting the following summary of relevant circumstances, and material and substantial reasons why a competitive procurement was not feasible. The New York State Department of Health Centers of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease initiative has made a determination to issue a Single Source Procurement to 10 eligible grantees to support ongoing currently funded projects.

The initiatives is based on evidence that demonstrates that providing an array of caregiver services in the community helps reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency room visits, delays nursing home placement, and improves caregiver burden and mental health outcomes. Another important goal is to promote early diagnosis of AD/D.

Funding will also support care consultations, support groups, education and training programs, respite, and at least one of the following additional allowable services: access services, caregiver companions, care support teams, caregiver wellness programs, joint enrichment programs, safety services and technology-based services.
