Single Source Procurement: Centers of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease Program

Pursuant to New York State Finance Law § 163.10(b), The New York State Department of Health is presenting the following summary of relevant circumstances, and material and substantial reasons why a competitive procurement was not feasible. The New York State Department of Health Centers of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease Program has made a determination to issue a Single Source Procurement to ten eligible grantees to support ongoing currently funded projects.

The Alzheimer’s Disease Program (ADP) is part of OHIP’s, Division of Long Term Care (DLTC), Bureau of Community Integration and Alzheimer's Disease. The ADP provides funding and support to health and community-based organizations that work to decrease the burden of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias (AD/D) on individuals living with AD/D, their caregivers and family members throughout New York State (NYS). The ADP initiatives are based on evidence that demonstrates that providing an array of caregiver services in the community helps reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency room visits, delays nursing home placement, and improves caregiver burden and mental health outcomes. Another important goal is to promote early diagnosis of AD/D.
