Psittacosis

Psittacosis is a bacterial disease in humans usually linked to birds infected with chlamydiosis. Infection in humans primarily leads to a serious pneumonia, although other clinical signs, or even asymptomatic infections, can occur. Because of the frequency of infection in pet birds, it is important that pet bird owners and others who are near pet birds know how to reduce the risk of this disease.
