Corrections and HIV, STIs and Hepatitis C

The AIDS Institute, Division of HIV/STD/HCV Prevention, Office of Criminal Justice Services' Corrections Health Initiative (CHI) was developed in response to the emerging prevention and service needs of incarcerated individuals who are living with HIV and reentrants. Its goal is to address health disparities by providing a continuum of quality HIV/HCV prevention and essential supportive services to individuals in a correctional setting and reentrants with priority being given to those with a 90-day release date.. These services are designed to reduce HIV/HCV transmission and improve the health and well-being of individuals living with HIV and/or diagnosed with HCV and other social determinants of health. The CHI uses multiple strategies to ensure effective service delivery.
