Overdose Prevention Trainings and Events

JOIN US ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2024 FROM 3:00 - 4:30 PM, EST

This multifaceted event is being created by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Drug User Health. The event's activities demonstrate a deep commitment to end the drug overdose crisis.

We will commemorate and honor the people and programs who work together to end stigma, while promoting life and health equity in New York State. Their efforts include prioritizing and elevating harm reduction skills, services, and practices.

Free Statewide Overdose Prevention Trainings

Anyone can be trained in overdose prevention. By the end of a training, participants are able to:

  • List the benefits of the New York State 911 Good Samaritan Law including the importance of calling emergency medical services;
  • State the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose;
  • Review the steps on how to respond to an overdose and administer naloxone; and
  • State where to get naloxone, and how to access naloxone using the cost-saving program Naloxone Co-payment Assistance Program (N-CAP).
