Opioid Overdose Prevention
Authorized in April 2006, the NYS Opioid Overdose Prevention Initiative trains non-medical persons to recognize opioid overdoses. The initiative supports naloxone access into two main ways: community and pharmacy. Registered programs offer community overdose training and naloxone at no cost or refer to a local pharmacy to trained persons.
Pharmacy & Naloxone Co-Payment Assistance Program (N-CAP)
Individuals with prescription drug coverage as part of their health insurance have their co-payments of up to $40 covered, resulting in no or lower out-of-pocket expenses.
