July 12, 2016 1115 Waiver Public Comment The 1115 waiver is designed to permit New York to use a managed care delivery system to deliver benefits to Medicaid recipients, create efficiencies in the Medicaid program, and enable the extension of coverage to certain individuals who would otherwise be without health insurance. June 20, 2016 COGME Plenary Session The New York State Council on Graduate on Graduate Medical Education is an advisory body which provides advice to the Governor and Commissioner of Health on the formulation and implementation of State policies relating to graduate medical education and training. The membership is broadly representative of health professional, hospital and public interests. The Council was created by Executive Order in 1987 and was re-authorized by Executive Order on January 1, 2011. None
June 9, 2016 Committee on Codes, Regulations and Legislation, Full Public Health and Health Planning Council Meeting, Establishment and Project Review Committee The PHHPC has a broad array of advisory and decision-making responsibilities with respect to New York State's public health and health care delivery system. It is charged with adopting and amending the Sanitary Code and health care facility, home care agency, and hospice operating regulations. The PHHPC also makes decisions concerning the establishment and transfer of ownership of health care facilities, home care agencies and hospice programs. It makes recommendations to the Commissioner of Health concerning major construction projects, service changes, and equipment acquisitions in health care facilities and home care agencies. It also advises the Commissioner on issues related to the preservation and improvement of public health. The Council's powers and duties are set forth in section 225 of the Public Health Law. The Full Council Meeting will be held immediately following the Committee on Codes, Regulations and Legislation meeting.
June 2, 2016 Early Intervention Coordinating Council The Early Intervention Coordinating Council is established in Public Health Law to advise and assist the New York State Department of Health as the lead state agency for the Early Intervention Program which provides services to infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. July 21, 2015 VAPAP Transformation Plan Training Conference The Department has scheduled a conference/ webinar for PPS leads and/or hospitals that have received, or are currently expected to receive, Vital Access Provider Assurance Program (VAPAP) assistance. The intent of the webinar is to present the transformation plan template and review responsibilities for completion and submission of the transformation plans. Transformation plans acceptable to the Department are due by September 30, 2015. None
January 13, 2015 Ending the Epidemic Task Force On June 29, 2014 Governor Andrew M. Cuomo made an important announcement, in which he detailed a three-point plan to 'Bend the Curve' and move us closer to the end of the AIDS epidemic in New York State. The goal is to reduce the number of new HIV infections to just 750 by 2020. The three-point plan includes: (1) Identify persons with HIV and link them to care. (2) Link and retain persons diagnosed in health care to maximize viral suppression and prevent further transmission. (3) Facilitate access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for high risk persons to keep them HIV negative. The Task Force has been established in support of Governor Cuomo's three-point plan to decrease new HIV infections. The Task Force will provide expert advice on implementation and monitoring strategies, focusing on New York State's highly successful existing HIV prevention and care efforts. Member of the Task Force will address areas of prevention, policy, access to care, surveillance, messaging and biomedical advances via four committees: (1)Prevention, (2)Care, (3) Data, and (4)Housing and supportive services. This initiative will maximize the availability of life-saving, transmission-interrupting treatment for HIV, saving lives and improving the health of New Yorkers. None
