Education in Public Health
Public health professionals come from a variety of educational backgrounds. While some positions do not require an advanced degree in public health, increasingly public health professionals find that they require the expertise and experience that comes with advanced education in order to perform their jobs. Because public health is a diverse and multidisciplinary field, pursuing a public health education is easy for individuals with very different educational and experiential backgrounds, whether they come directly from college or have worked in a different profession for many years.
During their education, students of public health must acquire core competencies in the field.
