About Public Meetings

All meetings (except for executive sessions) that require a quorum of a public body to conduct public business or perform a governmental function are open to the public. Meetings conducted by Department staff are held in locations which provide barrier-free physical access for the handicapped. Dates, times and places of meetings are listed on the Meetings, Hearings and Special Events page. An "executive" session, which is not open to the public, may be scheduled by majority vote of the total membership of that public body, at a public meeting when one or more of the following issues may be discussed:

  1. matters which would imperil public safety if disclosed
  2. information which may disclose the identity of a law enforcement agent or informer
  3. information which would imperil law enforcement of a criminal offense if disclosed
  4. proposed, pending or current litigation
  5. collective negotiations
  6. the medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation, or matters leading to the appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension, dismissal or removal of a particular person or corporation
  7. the preparation, grading or administration of examinations
  8. the proposed acquisition, sale or lease of real property
