Comprehensive Care Centers for Eating Disorders Guidelines

The New York State Health Department developed guidelines for the development of comprehensive care centers for eating disorders as a result of legislation passed during 2004. The three centers conduct public awareness activities, research into eating disorders, provide treatment to patients with a range of eating disorders and promote:

  • development and operation of a continuum of comprehensive, coordinated care for persons with eating disorders;

  • ready access to information, referral and treatment services on eating disorders for consumers, health care practitioners, providers and insurers, with access in every region of the State;

  • community education, prevention and patient entry into care; and

  • regional and statewide research efforts into effective methods of education, prevention and treatment, including research on the various models of care.
